Finally, the May BOM is finished :o)

Both blocks are done. Yay! I'm all caught up and ready to start on my June blocks and it's still June. I almost can't believe that I'm caught up. :o)

summer vacation is 1.5 weeks long, so far

...and I've been quilting up a storm. :o)
The other day, I decided to use the gingham fabrics that I got from my grandma a few years ago. It's not my favorite fabrics, but it was from my grandma, so I had to use it. Here is the quilt, so far. I started with 5" charms sewn into a 9-patch pattern and then cut the block into 1/4's, rearranged the parts and sewed it back together. I like how it turned out, but I think it needs something more, so I'm going to let it age for a bit while I think on how to give it a little "oomph!".


Today, I finished up my February blocks from my Be Attitudes BOM. Isn't this angel just too sweet?

Tomorrow, I do believe that I'll be able to get the May blocks finished and then I'll be ready to start on June ... while it's still June. How amazing is that?! lol
I didn't find the book "Liberated Quiltmaking", but I did get this one, "Liberated String Quilts".


It was fun to read through and I found that I'm already a liberated quilter and didn't know it. I already do a lot of things the way that they talked about, in the book. I think I'll read through it again, just to see what I learned.

There's a book I've been wanting for awhile, by Gwen Marston, but since it's out of print, the price is atrocious! Go check out Lazy Gal Tonya's site and leave her a comment if you've been wanting a copy of this book, too. Who knows, they just might reprint it at a more reasonable price.

Summer vacation starts Today

I had the house to myself for 4 hours this morning, and no work to go to for 2 whole months. What to do? Well, I could...
change the sheets
wash the dishes
fold the towels
wash walls
scrub floors
run errands
bundle up and ride my Harley
call a friend
OR............. make a quilt top.
Yeah, guess which one won out? :o)
I put together all the Orange Crush blocks together into a quilt top. Isn't it pretty? I think it's a beautiful mystery quilt. I do believe I just might have to keep this one for me.

And, a quilter's life is always busy. Earlier this week, I finished this quilt called "Pineapple Pinwheels". I made a quilt about a year and a half ago called Pineapple Blossom and had a zillion little triangles leftover. I couldn't just throw them away, so I figured out how to turn them into this quilt.


Now that I've had my quilting fix, I really do need to catch up on chores again, and I've already been working on them this afternoon, but it's always nice to do something productive, where you can actually *see* the results... unlike the daily household chores. :o)

2 new quilts finished

I got 2 quilts finished this week and I finally got photos to share with you.

The first one is for a foster family. Thanks to all my quilting buddies in SewManySwaps
for the charity Fat Quarters. Isn't it so cute?

The other one is all in 30's type fabrics and it is for one of my nieces that is graduating from high school this year. I can't believe that I actually got it done before graduation. I think she's going to like it. I like it. All the blocks are from a block swap from the same group, SewManySwaps. You did good work, quilters. :o)

I'm slowly catchin' up

My January block-of-the-month is now finished, in both colorways. February is getting close, and I've already started on May's, but for now, you get to see January. Aren't these little snowmen so cute?



And speaking of cute, here's a picture of 2 grandkids being silly. They think that if the camera is out, it must be for them. ;-)

I'm still quilting

I've been working on my Orange Crush mystery quilt and still haven't used any orange. :o) I have steps #1 and #2 finished up and also am done all the way through step #4. Here's a photo of some of my blocks. I can hardly wait to use the scrappy units that have the prettier colors.
